Philip Nevenhoven

Philip Nevenhoven has 30 years of experience in the aerospace industry, serving as a program manager and quality assurance leader. His work has supported executive, commercial, and military aircraft systems. Throughout his career, he has managed complex programs, improved production quality, and guided teams to meet aerospace industry standards, including AS9100, ISO 9001, and defense compliance requirements.

His commitment to craftsmanship and problem-solving began at a young age. Growing up in a small town in Iowa, Philip was curious about how things were built and how they worked. At 13, he helped remodel a house for a friend’s father, who owned a construction company. During that summer, he completed his first electrical wiring project, which sparked his interest in hands-on work and learning through practical experience.

While in high school, he spent his breaks working with a general contractor, gaining experience in all areas of residential construction. His dedication and practical skills were recognized by his high school shop teacher, who accompanied him on job sites during the summer for direct learning from real-world projects.

After earning a degree in carpentry, Nevenhoven returned to home construction before deciding to take a union carpentry apprenticeship test in a nearby city. At 19, he passed the exam successfully, becoming the youngest person to pass it without undergoing a formal apprenticeship.

His path led him from residential construction to fine interior trim carpentry. After a job site injury, Philip decided to shift his focus. In 1995, he entered the aerospace field in Kansas, where he worked on interiors for custom business jets, marking the beginning of a long career in aerospace.

Utilizing his craft background, Nevenhoven transitioned into aerospace roles in quality, engineering, and program management. He worked with major aerospace organizations across the U.S., Canada, and France, supporting executive and military aviation programs. He led a team of over 50 quality engineers and program managers, delivering large-scale programs and emphasizing continuous improvement.

Nevenhoven managed cross-functional teams in engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing, ensuring FAA conformity, AS9100 compliance, and adherence to ISO quality standards. His responsibilities included overseeing aircraft interior production, seating systems, and managing programs from design and certification to delivery. He worked closely with OEMs and suppliers, ensuring product conformity, managing subcontractor inspections, and addressing technical and compliance issues in both domestic and international projects.

Philip also led training and process improvement efforts, aiming to improve operational efficiency, reduce rework, and support FAA audits and customer certifications. His knowledge of CATIA V5, ENOVIA, and lean quality systems supported design improvements and cost reductions across various aircraft platforms.

Nevenhoven is recognized for his ability to guide and motivate teams, consistently achieving progress under tight deadlines and shifting priorities. His clear and diplomatic communication has helped align stakeholders and support effective decision-making. He has served as the primary contact during conformity inspections and certification phases, leading audits and working with the FAA and international authorities to ensure program timelines are met.

Philip earned his Catia V5 Certificate from Wichita State University’s National Institute for Aviation Research in 2006 and received his AOS/Certificate in Building Trades/Carpentry from Ellsworth Community College in 1989.

He has supported organizations like Goodwill and similar nonprofits, maintaining a commitment to giving back to the community. He enjoys home renovation projects, fitness, and distance running, having received awards for finishing near the top in races.
